Service Description

This is a 4-Week interactive course for engaged citizens, curious thinkers, thoughtful beings. Are you concerned about the state of democracy? Do you want to learn more about the history of democracy and its current state? Join us for an intensive exploration of the idea of democracy, current challenges, and discuss solutions. You can join the entire course, or book only the session(s) you are interested in. What you will learn: Week 1: Foundations of Democracy - The ideal and principles of democracy Week 2: Modern Democratic Challenges - From polarisation to digital threats Week 3: Possible solutions for democracy - Thick and thin models Week 4: Action Workshop - Developing local initiatives for democratic renewal Course includes: ✓ Live interactive sessions with a subject expert - Dr Karem Roitman, Associate Lecturer at the Open University ✓ A rich discussion and explanation of multiple theories and ideas. This might include the writing of Plato, Dahl, Barber, Arendt, and more! ✓ Practical tools for civic engagement ✓ Networking with like-minded community members ✓ Certificate of completion What this is NOT: a boring lecture you will sleep through, a tedious regurgitation of theories. A session that will tell you what to think. What this is: an engaging dialogue that presents you with new and challenging ideas in an engaging way, and gives you space to explore your thinking and your goals. A life changing opportunity to understand our world and decide your role in it. Cancellation Policy

We will do our best to ensure this course runs. We will confirm the course 48 hours before it starts. If we need to cancel the course, we will refund you all your fees minus a £1 booking fee. You can cancel your booking up to 48 hours before the course starts. There will be no cancellations or refunds after the course has started.
